Possibly this.

"Nice katydid. It looks like one of the angle-wings in the genus Microcentrum. Given your location, and the dark eyes, I think the most likely is probably the Southwestern Angle-Wing, Microcentrum latifrons . This would be a good one for you to submit to BugGuide, because if it is the Southwestern Angle-Wing, you would double the number of pictures of this species that they have (and it would be the first pictures from California). This would also be a good way to be more sure of the ID, because I could easily be mistaken".

It was a yellow/green color, and didn't have that thing under its body. I saw it on my way to my mailbox, and it was gone when I returned. I've seen them here in CO before occasionally.

That is the abdomen. They all have them. Sometimes you can't see it so good. Basic parts (segments) of an insect, front to back, are head, thorax, abdomen. Upon closer inspection, the eyes are located differently.

Well, he sure was beautiful. I wanted to pick it up but was afraid I might accidentally injure it. Are you into insects? You seem to know a lot about them.

Not an expert, but do know a bit about insects, snakes and turtles. Insects can be difficult to capture without a net. They are fragile.

Insects are fine unless they're in my house. Then they are dead. I am petrified of snakes but fascinated by them. When we were kids, my big brother used to chase me with garter snakes saying that he was going to put them down my neck. I blame my fear of snakes on him.

I know what you speak of. I am pretty casual except for centipedes and scorpions. Not so many scorpions in the house but sometimes the garage. Centipedes, I go into Charles Manson mode on them. My housemate screams whenever a spider shows up.

Brought home a Tarantula in a Tupperware box once. That did not last but overnight.

When I had a housemate, I used to scream at spiders too. Now that I'm on my own, I just squish them in a tissue and flush them down the toilet. I've seen a couple of Tarantulas in my town, but I just left them alone.

They migrate in late summer and they are quite harmless as long as you don't scare them.

When I was still married to my first wife, we came home one night and there was a Tarantula that somehow got in the house and was waiting by the door, she opened the door, looked down midstep, screamed like a banshee, and ran and climbed back in the Jeep as fast as she could. I walked in, put down my stuff, grabbed a notebook, picked up the poor guy on there and carried him outside.

Normally I kill anything with 8 legs that gets in my house, but tarantulas are too cool to kill. So he was relocated like the lizards, crickets and beetles.

Oh, geez. I don't know what I'd do if I ever found a tarantula in my house. I think I'd probably try to capture it somehow and release it. Like you said, they are too cool to kill.

Hey $kay, off this topic, but I think you are a chocolate lover, I bought Hershey chocolate minis and does not look like I will get any T or T'ers. Can I freeze them or should I just return the bag?

It was one of the funniest moments ever. And for me it was sort of exciting, since I hadn't seen one out and about for a while at that time. I later discovered that they were fairly common in the neighborhood we moved into, but I have always loved them (well, except when I was 4 and my friend handed me his pet tarantula without warning me and I dropped him, oops).

I'd return the bag for a refund. Or mail them to me. Hahaha! (The postage would cost more than the chocolate).

That would have been funny to see. I bet she never moved so fast in her life.

Eisenberg, what happened to my Oppo badge? It's vanished into the thin air. I was about to publish my Good Night Oppo post, but realised Publish to: Oppositelock option is no longer available.
